F.A.Q.

Q: What do I need to join the chat?
To start chatting, you need Java installed for your browser to load our chat applet.

Firefox users:
- Go to the login page, fill in a nickname and click enter
- A button "Install Missing Plugins" at the top will appear. Click it and it will take you to the Java installation.

Internet Explorer users:
Download Java Virtual Machine. This is a small, compact version of Java that will only work on IE.

Q: I can't / don't want to install Java on my pc. Can I connect via some other way?
A: Yes! If you can't use either of the above mentioned methods or if you just don't want to install Java on your computer, we have an alternative for you. Go to http://www.tombraiderchat.com/?java=no to enter our chatroom via Mibbit. Mibbit does not have all the functionalities as the Java applet, but it'll still do the trick :-)

Q: I'm using the Mibbit chat and the bottom line is cut-off, how can I fix this?
A: If you are using Internet Explorer 6, the bottom of the mibbit chat does not display correctly. You can solve this by clicking on "PasteBin" at the bottom and then click on "Close". Consider upgrading to Internet Explorer 7 (download) or 8 (download).

Q: Are there any chat rules I should be aware of?
A: We do have a few rules, but our chat is pretty much free and you can say what you want, just as long as you keep things friendly. We have a censor in place that filters out offensive words (you can still see what you typed yourself, but others will not). The chat is moderated, so visitors who are being annoying risk being kicked off the chat. If someone is consistantly annoying they can get banned. Visitors that flood the channel (quickly posting many messages within a few seconds) risk being de-voiced (this means you won't be able to enter text) for 5 minutes by one of our chatbots.

Q: What are the chat commands?
A: Below is a list of frequently used chat commands.

/me <text>
- display an action
/nick <nickname>
- change your nickname
/msg nickserv register <password> <email>
- register your nickname
/msg nickserv identify <password>
- identify yourself on the server

Note: text between < > is something you write yourself.
For example, to change your nickname
to "coolguy23", you type this:
/nick coolguy23
